Powderpuff Mimosa

Mimosa strigillosa, commonly known as Powderpuff or Sunshine Mimosa, is a hardy native Florida groundcover perfect for pollinator gardens or general groundcover use. Once established, this perennial requires minimal maintenance and exhibits remarkable heat and drought tolerance. Although this plant goes dormant in the winter, providing minimal cover but stabilizing the soil, it returns each year in early spring. Powderpuff Mimosa serves as a host plant for Little Sulphur Butterflies and is recognized as a Florida-Friendly Native Pollinator. Its sensitive leaves fold upon contact, adding an interactive element to gardens. In late spring through early summer, it bursts into bloom with bright pink, puffy flowers, adding a splash of color to the landscape.
